Procedure Description
Pap Smear Annually at age 18 or when sexually active.  We use the new thin prep technology that can be performed even while bleeding.  HPV typing and screening for certain sexually transmitted diseases can be performed off of this one sample.
Colposcopy State of the art evaluation of cervix and vagina in patients with abnormal pap smears.
Mammography Annually after age 40.
Bone Density Screening Dexascan performed every 3 to 5 years starting at age 50; earlier if you have family history of osteoporosis, chronic steroid used, early menopause, or in other high risk patients.
Pregnancy Test A urine pregnancy test for immediate results is offered in our office.  Blood tests are also available if indicated.
Ultrasound A test in which sound waves are used to examine internal structures. During pregnancy, it can be used to examine the fetus.
Lab Work Full time phlebotomist available in our office.
Urinary Incontinence Evaluation Equipment to evaluate your bladder is available in our office.
LEEP Procedures Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), uses a high frequency electrical current for cutting away diseased tissue. A local anesthetic is applied to the cervix, and a wire loop is inserted into the vagina. A button-sized slice of tissue is removed from the cervix for examination. A deeper slice is used to evaluate the endocervical canal. Extensive and deep sections of damaged tissue can be effectively removed and very high cure rates (with just one treatment) are possible.
